Elkanah's Visual Arts Inquiry Learning Story Term 3 2019 How do we communicate our ideas and opinions about an issue through visual arts?    1 . presentation      2. First I picked my issue which was racism because I needed to pick something that I felt strongly about. I like reading books about war, and history.         My book is called Arohanui              It is a legend about the heart of Aotearoa  It’s purpose is to tell people about the pure heart of maori. Kanah’s Maths  Learning Story Term 3 2019 How do we solve a tricky math problem as a group?  Maths helps us solve problems we need to now. VaVulangi is helping to make otai for a family reunion. She is going to make 26 litres of otai.  50% of the otai is coconut milk.  If each box of coconut milk is 1.45 litres, how many boxes of coconut milk will she need?  So first we read the problem so we know what's happening. So we now that a box of coconut milk is 1.5 litres and the otai has  50% of the coconut milk  so we need to find out how many boxes of coconut milk she needs.  So I  did 1.45+1.45=2.90 but then I kinda changed my mind and I thought that we could half the 1 from the 1.45 and then we have 50% and there is 50%.45 left in the box so I think they need about 4  boxes of coconut milk if they are making 26 litres       .;l I want you to know that I am good at ...

cccc Kanah's Writing Learning Story Term 3 2019 “How do we  create a moment in time so our audience feels like they are there with us?” My Moment in Time Title: Tongan Performance As I am in the changing rooms my heart is beating like never before! I am sweating hard as if it is raining. I could hear the crowd celebrating their children who were on the stage by yelling and shouting. Walking towards the doors made me feel like I was getting closer to a rumbling volcano. As the Tongan parents were yelling and clapping hard out. As I am walking around everyone, my body filled up with goosebumps. As the other group jumped off the stage my heart bumped even stronger. I am walking on stage, everyone clapped and cheered. I started to calm down as I was singing because everyone went quiet. I stopped singing and everyone clapped and cheered. on Friday we did science. we use a microscope to look at all the things we found. I found this leaf and put it real close to the microscope. my favourite thing about that day was when we got bugs to use. I wondered if the white stuff on it was furr or it just grows with the leaf. I am sharing this with you because I want you guys to see what we did and to see if you know if the wondering that I have said.

My Powtoon This is a video that will show you everything I did last term for Year Six EOTC Week. I am sharing this with you guys because there are so many different apps that I use to write. Also, this is the first time I have used powtoon and I've had success with how to work with it. The key competencies I used were thinking because I had a lot of ideas for the powtoon I made. Also, I used relating to others because there were some people that didn't know how powtoon worked so I helped them. My next steps are to put more detail in powtoons because the first one I did was kind of simple. And also asking others for help because I had some troubles knowing how to put music on my background. I did it by myself instead of asking and it took a long time.

On Thursday we went to Brandon for tech.  We were with Mrs Fleur and Mrs Faye We made jam out of sugar, strawberry and blueberries. My favourite thing about tech was how we made a jar each. we got to make our own booklets also my buddy was Dante for the day. I am sharing this with you because I want you to know what we did also and how much fun we did with Brandon Intermediate. The key competencies I used were managing self because I never got a solve it or a castle and also I used thinking because I used my thinking so I didn't get hurt or burnt in any way. My next step was to share more because I got a longer turn then my buddy Dante. 

Digital Tech On Wednesday we made robots that could draw circles and scribbles. That day we had Praveen and Eddy from Victoria University. In this video, I am turning on my motor and I am versing Dantae. My favourite part about that day was when we all put our robots on the giant piece of paper and started drawing. After we had a competition whose robot wrote the best. My one was neat and it just kept on going in a circle. After that, we got to keep our robots and keep the big paper were all our robots drew on. I learnt how to make a robot out of a  paper cup, motor, and felt pens I am sharing this with you mum and dad because I want to show you how much fun I have at school instead of home and this was learning that I had never done before. The key competencies I used was relating with others because I met some new people and I made friends from another class, and participating and contributing when I helped other people when the're robots didn't work.

Swimming I want to share this with you my whanau because I want to tell you about my learning at the pools. On Tuesday at the pools, we learnt how to keep ourselves safe when we are in the water. If there is a tsunami and you fall off the boat, go  under the boat and you should have enough time to breathe under the boat.  My next steps are to listen and get better at my freestyle, backstroke, and rocket arms. 

expressing voices We got a book named What's for Dinner. We were practicing our expressions in our voices    to represent the characters in the book. I was doing a voice for a bull and a fox. When expressing the voice of the fox I had a deep and very scary voice. For the bull, his voice was dark and was very quiet.  I was good at expressing the voices of the characters in the book.    

Production. Thursday, November the 15th it was the day of “Corinna - so you think you can dance? Competition. Every class had a dance from around the world like tango, rock n roll, and salsa. Room 3 was doing an African dance and to the song azonto. Everyone from room 3 had the idea that each one of us could get a dance from youtube then show it to the class. After that, we could make a dance out of all the moves. We put on black shorts black t-shirts and African pants my colour was orange also Pena one of our designers put some face paint on our face and made us look like African warriors. As soon as I heard Anita's voice I knew we were going on so I stood still until we went on the stage in front of 370 people. I felt like I was in a different world I just kept on dancing and dancing non stop everyone was looking at me and I  just felt happy. Tane Mahutas perspective In the begining the only light was from Te Marama the moon. Hi my name is Tane this is what happened. "We need to kill them!"said Tumatauenga god of war. Me and my brothers disagreed. My brothers and I want to separate our parents so we can see the sun. Its hard because Rangi and Papa are in love and they won’t let go of each other. All their children were born in darkness. Both of them are way to strong but if we try we can push them apart. I used my legs to push them apart and then my brothers pushed  Ranginui as well. They pulled him away from Papatuanuku. But my brother Tawhirimatea god of wind didn’t want them to be apart but he knew what to do so his Dad wouldn’t get hurt. So he blew Rangi  away so then after years in the dark with the only light Te Marama there was light. Tawhirimatea was angry so he made lightning then 7 and he threw the lightning at Ranginui and stars were formed. There names were Waiti, Waita, Uru-a-...

I looked up and ran away. 30 years later I was in working for the hospital when I saw him in a bed than  I heard there bill was 795, 00000$ but than I changed it because of what he did. Jeremiah drew shape B and said it had a bigger area because it looked slightly bigger. Lepale wasn’t so sure. Who is right and how can you prove it? Tangaroa thought that this shape would make an interesting garden.  What is the perimeter of this garden? What is the area? Bothamley Park Learning story Problem: How can we look after and support our local park? How can I use my ‘voice’ to make a difference? My Learning: I noticed  there were little bugs that lived in the river but they were dead by the time we got them. I found out….that dragonflies were born in water and then when they got wings that is when they can’t b reath in the water any more. I think we should clean the water and make sure they don’t die. Now I will try to clean the water and talk so everyone will help.
