(Write your name here)’s Maths learning Story The Maths problem:   We were trying to make a rectangle garden with a 36m perimeter when we looked at the Te Rito garden problem.   Lepale drew shape A. Jeremiah drew shape B and said it had a bigger area because it looked slightly bigger. Lepale wasn’t so sure. Who is right and how can you prove it? Tangaroa thought that this shape would make an interesting garden.  What is the perimeter of this garden? What is the area? The story of the Maths problem: (use your own words) Lepale drew  shape a, Jeremiah drew shape b to see who had a bigger area B is 8 x 10m a was 7 x 11 m. What we were trying to find out: To see who had the biggest area of the rectangle. How we solved the problem: First we decided the area is the space inside the rectangle.  We measure that in square meter = 1m x 1m Then we drew shape b 7m x 11x = 77m2 Then we drew shape a 10m x 8...

Bothamley Park Learning story Problem: How can we look after and support our local park? How can I use my ‘voice’ to make a difference? My Learning: I noticed  there were little bugs that lived in the river but they were dead by the time we got them. I found out….that dragonflies were born in water and then when they got wings that is when they can’t b reath in the water any more. I think we should clean the water and make sure they don’t die. Now I will try to clean the water and talk so everyone will help.

  Kanah’s Writing Learning story The Problem:   How do I retell a significant event so others can share my experience? My recount: In the holidays In the holidays me and my family went to Hastings it was so fun because we saw some wild animals. When we got there we went to my aunty’s house. Then we went Splash Planet it was so fun my nana had a swim cause she wanted some fun. My favorite was the big slide ‘woohoo’ with no roof and it had something for you to sit on like a donut haha. I also liked the go cart’s my cousin came first I came second my dad came last it was fun it’s like a family tradition we do this every Easter. Kanah’s Term 1 Reading Learning Story How do we make meaning from the texts we read using a range of reading strategies? I chose this Library book to read at silent, sustained reading time because i t has i nteresting words I’ve never heard. It has rhymes and some pictures   to help me incase I don't understand what the word means .    I located information in the story that told me information I know is that Eugenia said pigs should be on farms not houses. I located this information by reading the book. I worked out that because I new Eugenia hated pigs. I used the clues from the pictures I found out that an important idea in the story  that pigs belong on farms not in houses because pig’s they like mud and all that but people don’t like mud in their house. I used what I know about pigs and that they like mud and ideas from the story about Mercy Watson to work out that pigs don’t belong in houses.  ...
